XBOX 720 seeming more real every day, the rumor mill is starting to kick up big time. Let’s recap the XBOX 720 rumored to have a better Kinect with finger tracking and a Wii U-like tablet controller. XBOX 720 will employ next-generation processors and graphics chips that will make XBOX 720 six to eight times more powerful than its predecessor and 20 percent more powerful than Nintendo’s forthcoming console the Wii U.

The next console will use the AMD 6000 series, which should run similar to the Radeon HD 6670. That all sounds a bit jargon-y but essentially it’s a super-fast processor that supports DirectX11, multi-display output, 3D and 1080p HD. Production of the GPU should start by the end of this year.

Blu-Ray Player and “Kinect 2″

XBOX 720 will come with a built in Blue-Ray, which can contain 50 GB of data, according to Kotaku. It is also expected to boast Microsoft’s motion-detecting Kinect system. Commenting on these rumors, a Microsoft rep e-mailed Kotaku with the following statement:

“As an innovator we’re always thinking about what is next and how we can push the boundaries of technology like we did with Kinect. We believe the key to extending the lifespan of a console is not just about the XBOX 720 hardware, but about the games and entertainment experiences being delivered to consumers. Beyond that we don’t comment on rumors or speculation.”

No Disc Tray

Rumors have been circulating that the new Xbox will be entirely digital with no disc tray. But Examiner.com calls the rumor a big stretch, saying there would be no money in the business past the initial sale.

XBOX 720 will ship to retailers in late October or early November 2013 and have six times the processing power of its predecessor, the XBOX 720, sources close to the project told IGN.
